Welcome to Takysie Lake Resort

The name ‘Takysie’ means ‘lake of many fishes.’ The abundance of rainbow trout in Takysie Lake will excite everyone – even the non-fisherman. Watch as each day the fish rise and leap from the water for their daily meal. Takysie Lake supports an excellent population of wild BC rainbow trout up to 2+ lbs. The lake is ideal for fly fishing and conventional trolling methods using spinning gear, flatfish, and small spoons. Or just walk out to the boats after a good rain – there may just be one swimming around inside looking for a way out!

A Calm & Relaxing Getaway

This is where you want to relax…listen to the call of the loons and watch the ospreys soar overhead. Tour the lake in one of our aluminum boats to view an eagle’s nest or catch your own next meal. Our lakeside resort is secluded with a peaceful tranquility that’s difficult to find. We have it all -   rustic lakeside cabins, RV/Tentsites , a sani dump station, guest docks, a boat launch, as well as docking for floatplanes. You can also find a restaurant and store on-site where you can enjoy delicious home-cooked meals and stock up on supplies.

A Local Legend turns Family Affair

Kimberley and her sister Danielle grew up in Smithers, BC, where family trips to Takysie Lake were a beloved tradition. Danielle especially remembers falling asleep in the top bunk of Cabin 2, listening to the oldies request line radio show drifting through the cabin while her parents played cards at the table—a cozy, precious memory that has not faded with time.

Many years later, a nostalgic conversation with a childhood friend led Danielle to look up Takysie Lake—and discover it was for sale. She quietly followed the listing for four years until, during a summer 2024 visit to Smithers with her mom and stepdad, the trio made a spontaneous day trip to see it in person… and the rest, they say, is history.

Today, Takysie Lake Resort is proudly run by a multigenerational crew: Chef Kim, her sister Danielle, Danielle’s husband Stephen, their mom Terry, stepdad Duane, and a budding young fisherman named Decimus. Together, the family is honoured to carry on the legacy of this special place and to serve the Southside community.

What began as a childhood memory has come full circle—and now, it truly feels like coming home.
